Backpainted glass is the most common form of architectural decorative glass, but it is also the most versatile. It can be used in a variety of applications including wall cladding, marker boards and even as part of an art installation. The new Apache Corporation regional headquarters in Calgary, designed by Gensler Dallas, is a great example of how colored backpainted glass wall cladding was used to add both beauty and functionality to a space.
This interior design project was the culmination of a complex consolidation, relocation, and rebranding effort for Apache Corporation, and was primarily aimed at attracting the industry's best professionals. By planning each floor with an open feel, fronting offices in full glass, and using different colored backpainted glass wall panels on each floor, the amount of daylight was increased and wayfinding within the space was vastly improved.
